For 32 years, the Sinulog Festival is a traditional celebration in Cebu City held every third Sunday of January to honor the Senyor Santo Niño (Child Jesus). The festival is done by a dance ritual, along the city streets in which it tells the story of the Filipino people's pagan past and their acceptance of Christianity.
But for 2025, the much-awaited Sinulog Festival is coming with a twist.
Every year, people are looking forward to watching the Sinulog Festival Parade. This year, however, they will have a new highlight.
The “Sinulog sa Lalawigan,” a longstanding feature of the festival, has been officially replaced by the newly introduced Brass Band Competition, set to bring a dynamic and musical twist to this year’s celebration.
The Sinulog Foundation Inc. announced the shift as part of their efforts to revamp the hospital and offer fresh experiences for attendees.
Scheduled for January 11, the Brass Band Competition promises to spotlight exceptional musical talent and creativity, further enhancing the exciting cultural experience for Sinulog.
Meanwhile, Sinulog Inc. Executive Director Elmer “Jojo” Labella announced on December 26, that the participating contingents of the Sinulog sa Lalawigan will directly perform in the Sinulog Grand Parade on January 19 at the Cebu City Sports’ Club.
The celebration will start on January 10 with the Opening of Sinulog 2025 Declaration Ceremonial Mass and Sinulog Launching Parade will begin at 3:00 p.m., followed by the Ceremonial Opening at 6:00 p.m. at the Cebu City Sports Complex (CCSC).
From January 10 to 25, there will also be an “OSANino at 40 Exhibit” by the Order of Saint Augustine.
