The recent celebration of San Pedro City, Laguna’s Sampaguita Festival, from May 22 to 25, was a spectacular showcase of the incredible talents of San Pedrenses and others as well.

During the four-day festivities, San Pedrenses from all walks of life were able to express the boundless creativity and energy that has characterized the city’s most important economic resource: its vibrant, dynamic and united populace.

Sampaguita Creative Competition

One of the biggest highlights of this year’s Sampaguita Festival was the Sampaguita Creative Competition held at Robinsons Galleria South Mall last May 24.

Nine teams from various sampaguita associations in San Pedro had a chance to “upscale” the traditional sampaguita garland and find new and creative ways of displaying the beauty of the Philippines’ national flower.

Members of the San Pedro Apostol Parish Sampaguita Vendors bagged the championship with their "Sampaguita Chandelier," while the Lady Flowers group won 1st runner-up with their "Sampaguita Gown" and the Sampaguita Vendors team placed 2nd with their "Sampaguita Bouquet."

Ginoo at Binibining San Pedro

The Ginoo at Binibining San Pedro 2025 was also the perfect opportunity for the "best of the best" of San Pedrense youth to display their inner (and outer) beauty.

Arjie David of Barangay San Lorenzo Ruiz was crowned Ginoong San Pedro, while Justin Ella Catata of Barangay Estrella bagged the Binibining San Pedro crown.

Howard Guerrero of Barangay San Antonio and Elquiño Fuchs of Barangay Cuyab became 1st and 2nd runner-ups for the Ginoong San Pedro title, while Ararimsha Balanag of Barangay Fatima and Ma. Alexandra Yesha Traya of Barangay San Antonio were chosen as 1st and 2nd runner-ups for the Binibining San Pedro title.

Agos ng Musika concert

Thousands of San Pedrenses were also able to spend a night of music and fun at the Agos ng Musika concert held on May 24.

The concert featured top-billed OPM artists such as The Itchyworms, the Juans, Urbandub, and Pidiong, who serenaded attendees with their hit songs.

Economic impact

Organizers of the Sampaguita Festival reported that the events of the four-day festival also generated thousands of pesos in gross sales for vendors and entrepreneurs who participated in the Sampaguita Trade Fair.

Foodstuffs such as snacks and pasalubong items were the top drawers among those who attended the festivities.

With the success of the 2025 Sampaguita Festival, city officials are now preparing for an even bigger lineup of activities for the 2026 celebrations.

"Dasal ko na nabusog ang puso’t isipan ninyo sa saya at alaala ng mga aktibidad, lalo na sa Agos ng Musika na naging isang gabi ng musika, pagmamahalan, at pagkakaisa. Next year, ibabalik po natin ang lahat ng aktibidad, mas malaki, mas masaya, at mas inklusibo para sa lahat," San Pedro City Mayor Art Mercado declared in his Facebook page.
