There is still reason to celebrate Christmas - and greet the New Year with hope.

Of course, let's face the facts: 2025 has not been a good year for the Philippines.

A string of natural calamities, a stormy political climate, rising public anger over the unfettered greed of public officials, coupled with mudslinging and backstabbing as the powers that be fight for their survival at the expense of the Republic.

Not to mention a shaky economic situation that promises to be even more critical as we enter into an uncharted territory this coming 2026.

The coming year could become the year when our political situation finally explodes. Changes in our charter? Changes in leadership? Changes in the very culture and spirit of our country? Who knows.

But one thing is for sure: as long as there are Filipinos who are willing to fight for their country and their countrymen, there will still be reason to hope for the best in 2026.

After all, the real message of Christmas is the unselfish love and compassion of God for all mankind.

May that spirit of love and compassion carry us all as we continue our fight for the welfare of the common man and the survival (and prosperity) of our country.

In the meantime, let us all celebrate the small victories of life with our family, with our friends, and with our fellow Filipinos.

A blessed Christmas and a prosperous New Year to us all!
