Fifteen areas across the Philippines are expected to endure dangerously high heat index levels ranging from 42 to 44 degrees Celsius today, according to the latest bulletin from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In its monitoring, PAGASA has placed these areas under the “danger” classification, meaning residents face a significantly higher risk of heat-related illnesses such as heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and potentially heat stroke, especially with extended exposure or physical activity outdoors.
The following areas are forecast to reach a heat index of 42°C:
- Tuguegarao City (Cagayan)
- Echague (Isabela)
- Iba (Zambales)
- Olongapo City
- San Ildefonso (Bulacan)
- Camiling (Tarlac)
- Masbate City
- Roxas City (Capiz)
- Iloilo City
- Panglao (Bohol)
- Dipolog (Zamboanga del Norte)
- Davao City
Meanwhile, higher indices are expected in other locations, with Sangley Point in Cavite City, Dagupan City in Pangasinan, and Virac in Catanduanes forecast to hit 43°C.
PAGASA urges the public to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activities during peak hours, and seek shade or air-conditioned environments when possible.
