The Sariaya Municipal Treasurer’s Office issues an official statement to deny fake news and AI-generated manipulated images circulating on social media.
The statement clearly clarified that the Municipal Treasurer and the office have no connection or involvement whatsoever in any cockfighting activities, contrary to what is being claimed in the misleading posts.
"Ang ganitong paratang ay walang katotohanan, walang sapat na batayan, at lubhang nakapipinsala sa integridad ng aming tanggapan at sa tiwala ng mamamayan," the municipal treasurer stressed.
The office strongly condemns all forms of spreading fake news and wrong information that only brings confusion and division to the community. They added that these are made intentionally to deceive the public.
“Ang sinumang mapapatunayang nagpapalaganap ng false information o fake news ay maaaring managot sa Republic Act 10175 o mas kilala bilang Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 at iba pang umiiral na mga batas,” the statement added.
Residents are advised to be critical and verify the truthfulness of any news or details they read online before sharing them.
The public was also assured that the office will continue to manage public funds honestly and properly, following strict rules and processes in budgeting, accounting, and auditing. The goal is to make sure that every peso is spent right for the welfare and benefit of all.
The public is advised to coordinate only with the official local government 's Sariaya office for accurate and reliable information.
