25 year old gunner Kyt Jimenez of Sarangani notches quadruple-double to become only the second Filipino to achieve this feat and the first in over 20 years.
Kyt Jimenez notched a historic quadruple-double-- considered a thing of the past because of the level of difficulty-- in the OKbet-MPBL (Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League) 4th Season, 125-74, against Mindoro on October 10, at the Paco Arena.
The former University of Perpetual Help System DALTA standout tallied 33 points, built on eight three pointers, 13 rebounds, 11 assists and a staggering 11 steals while only playing 30 minutes, to become the second local player to achieve this feat.
A quadruple-double outing has proved to be too much even for the athletes who have been regarded as legends in the Philippine basketball.
The last of its kind was recorded back in 1999 during Davao’s win over Nueva Ecija in the 1999 Metropolitan Basketball Association (MBA) season, which was produced by Donbel Belano who tallied 17 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists, and 10 steals.
A 69-43 halftime lead was already erected by the Tamaraws but head coach John Kallos decided to keep his gunner in the game and saw Kyt already flirting with historic numbers.
Jimenez eased into his spectacular outing after notching a double-double with 7:09 left in the game as he reached for his 10th rebound, which quickly turned into a triple-double after getting his 10th steal with less than four minutes on the clock.
Just three seconds after tallying his 10th steal, Jimenez was able to find teammate Jordan Sta. Ana on the break to dish an assist and officially break into the quadruple-double mark.
Kyt then officially called it a night with 2:18 left and a quadruple-double under his name.
“I just wanted to please the fans and enjoy the game,” said Jimenez,
The 25-year-old Jimenez signed with Sarangani despite admitting to receiving offers from three PBA teams and two foreign clubs as he just wants to play at the highest possible level.
