Good news for members of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) in Santa Rosa City, Laguna!

In a statement, GSIS said its 6,918 members and pensioners in this city could now avail themselves of its emergency loan program, following the local government's declaration of a "state of calamity" after an outbreak of pertussis, or whooping cough.

GSIS said the loan program is available until May 24 for qualified active members living or working, as well as old-age and disability pensioners in Sta. Rosa City.

The state pensioner, which caters to government employees, has allocated P178 million for emergency loans to Santa Roseños.

"Members and pensioners with current emergency loans may borrow up to P40,000 to settle previous loan balances and ensure a maximum net amount of P20,000. Those without any outstanding emergency loan, may apply for a P20,000 loan," GSIS said.

The loan carries a 6-percent interest rate and a three-year payment term.

GSIS also assured that applicants could avail of the loan anytime and anywhere through the GSIS Touch mobile app, provided they meet specific eligibility criteria, including a net take-home pay of at least PHP5,000 after deductions.

Pensioners could also qualify as long as their resulting net basic monthly pension after loan availment is at least 25 percent of their pension.
