When calamity strikes and one must evacuate, what should you bring to tide you over?
Through its newest "GO Bag" program, the city government of Santa Rosa is not just distributing vital equipment to families; it is also teaching Santa Roseños how to prepare themselves adequately for disasters.
Starting January 21, the city government has started out the distribution of its Emergency GO Bags to residents as part of its efforts to properly equip them for calamities.
Among the first priorities for the distribution of the GO Bag are families living near the coastline of Laguna de Bay, which saw considerable flooding during the monsoon rains that hit Laguna province in July last year.
According to the LGU, the GO Bags carry "sample items" that families can use as a template in preparing their own disaster-preparedness equipment.
These include medical equipment such as cotton balls, bandages and alcohol pads; a tumbler; flashlight; whistles; emergency glow sticks; food bars, an emergency blanket and sleeping bags.
Families are encouraged to add to these basic materials their own personal kits, including important documents, personal medicines, and other special needs of each family member.
Through the GO Bags, the city government of Santa Rosa hopes to equip and encourage Santa Roseños, particularly those living near "danger areas," to become better prepared during calamities.
