The Santa Cruz Water District (SCWD) in Santa Cruz, Laguna has joined the growing number of local water distributors seeking to terminate their partnerships with PrimeWater Infrastructure Corporation.

In a post on his Facebook page last June 26, former Mayor Edgar San Luis announced that the SCWD has issued a resolution paving the way for the termination of its 2019 joint-venture agreement with PrimeWater.

The move comes after a barrage of continuing complaints by PrimeWater's customers in Santa Cruz, echoing a trend of nationwide dissatisfaction over the water distributor's service (or lack thereof).

San Luis published in his page letters from SCWD officials to the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) and to President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. himself, urging the national government to address PrimeWater's "poor" services.

“Ayon mismo sa SCWD, maraming obligasyon ang hindi natupad ng PrimeWater sa ilalim ng kasunduan—kabilang na ang hindi pa rin nasisimulang Surface Water Treatment Facility, na noon pa man ay ipinangako nilang solusyon sa ating krisis sa tubig,” San Luis pointed out in his Facebook post.

San Luis' administration has also turned over all pertinent documents regarding the issue to the new administration of Mayor Benjo Agarao, who took office on July 1.

"Hangad ko na ito'y kanilang mapagtuunan ng pansin at maipagpatuloy ang laban para sa karapatan ng bawat Santa Cruzan sa maayos na serbisyo ng tubig," he added.
