As part of the local government's efforts to revive the traditional industry of sampaguita planting, San Pedro City, Laguna Mayor Art Mercado (center) recently launched the Sampaguita Planting Program at the Pacita Complex 2 Elementary School in Barangay Pacita 2.

According to the local executive, this advocacy program aims to encourage schools in the city not only to plant sampaguitas but also to become frontliners in caring for the environment. Meanwhile, the San Pedro City Agriculture Office (CAO) said it will also give away free sampaguita plants to residents who wish to raise them in their backyards.
