Catbalogan City, Samar- In response to widespread power outages in Catanduanes, Region 8 Electric Cooperatives dispatched linemen teams on November 20, 2024, to assist in power restoration efforts. Among these teams are linemen from the Samar II Electric Cooperative (SAMELCO II).
This initiative, known as Task Force Kapatid, is spearheaded by the National Electrification Administration (NEA) in coordination with the Federation of Rural Electric Cooperatives in Region 8 (FRECOR 8 ), Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association, Inc. (PHILRECA), and APEC Partylist. The task force is a unified response aimed at accelerating power restoration in areas devastated by recent natural disasters.
This morning, SAMELCO II General Manager and FRECOR 8 Treasurer Joey L. Talon, CPA, headed the send-off ceremony at the FRECOR 8 office in Brgy San Juan, Sta Rita, Samar.
During the ceremony, Talon emphasized the dedication of the linemen to restore essential services and provide support to residents in Catanduanes.
With the deployment of Task Force Kapatid, Region 8’s electric cooperatives aim to swiftly assist Catanduanes communities as they recover from severe power disruption, restoring not just electricity but also a sense of normalcy to the affected areas.
