Telethon has been the advocacy of media people in reaching out to the victims of calamities since God knows when.

Aside from multimedia broadcasts, telethon is also expressed in on-site relief operations during catastrophes.

In the advent of the recent four bad weathers, namely tropical depressions and Habagat or southwest monsoon which caused damages to lives and properties all throughout the country, television networks, move companies and other media outlets have been helping victims of the typhoons.

One of the active socio-civic proponents of relief drives is the GMA Network social involvement of its Kapuso Foundation.

The Kapuso Foundation collaborates with other socio-civic people and projects including the Armed Forces of the Philippines to maximize their efforts to save and alleviate the unfortunate conditions of the victims.

This time, actor, singer and Philippine Army reservist Ronnie Liang joined forces with the GMA Network social conscience to reach out to the needy in the affected areas like San Mateo, Montalban and other communities.

In his Instagram posts, Ronnie has described his initiatives in joining altruistic exercises.

In his captions for a series to sharing food and other essential donations, Liang described: “Joining the Rescue and relief operations for the victims of typhoons Crising and Habagat at Macabebe, Pampanga with the 303rd ready reserve infantry battalion of the Philippine Army, 70IB 7ID and the GMA Kapuso Foundation,” noted Liang.

In another photo, the singer is shown inspiring the hapless crowd. Ronnie captioned the snapshot. “Sending ngiti (smile) by serenading the typhoon/Habagat victims at Montalban, Rizal. To help and to bring comfort and a smile to our kababayans affected these challenging times.”

Liang reiterated an announcement: “Answering the Call of Duty, joining the relief operations for the victims of #Typhoon Crising and #habagat in San Mateo Rizal, Organized by GMA Kapuso Foundation.”

Other GMA stars who participated in the relief drive operations were Sparkle Star John Vic de Guzman, actress Tart Carlos, among others.
