The bond that exists between a mother and her child is eternal.
It is also palpable.
It is literally and symbolically, an umbilical cord that attaches the souls of the filial duo.
Even if the mom and the son are apart, they are near and embracing however afar.
Take the case of Richard Gomez, former matinee idol now accomplished actor and an active politician in the Visayas, and Stella Suarez, the popular and controversial sex kitten in the 60s and 70s.
Richard, the son, is mostly settled in Ormoc City but he attends regular congressional sessions at the House of Representatives as congressman of the 4th District of Leyte Province.
Stella, the mom, is settled in the US but occasionally comes home to attend to family affairs and to pay her son a visit, if not in Region 8, nothing to worry about waiting for each one's availability, in Manila.
Although miles apart, Richard on Mother's Day last week, threw back snapshots of their tender loving care for each other in the sea.
It was a rare chance to show one another the filial warmth meant to last forever.
Of course, Richard or Goma and Stella communicate online which the power of digital machines serve them right.
After celebrating Mother's Day with Lucy Torres Gomez, Ormoc City Mayor, Goma inaugurated the upgraded plaza of the city.
In his Facebook wall, the residents of Ormoc posted their welcome him with fanfare.
