This Juliana Gomez is a lucky girl, indeed.

She is a responsible daughter.

A pride of her parents.

Juliana Gomez who?

Who else but the unica hija of the Representative of the 4th District of Leyte Province, Richard Gomez and the Mayor of Ormoc City in Leyte, Lucy Torres-Gomez.

Juliana recently graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City.

The young Gomez not only graduated simply from UP but she got Latin honors as well.

Juliana was a cum laude of her batch.

In his Instagram posts, Richard wrote heart-warming messages on his daughter’s memorable moment as a UP grad.

“Look at you now, all grown up and a college graduate in Public Administration at the UP Diliman and a Cum Laude.

“Congratulations ‘day!” exclaimed the father on the achievement of her daughter.

Chard remembered Juliana as a kid whom he always drove personally to her school.

“I vividly remember your first day in school as a young child. I drove you to your school near the house, you were in a white shirt and jeans in rubber shoes,” Goma (another of Richard's pet names) recalled.

The actor-congressman took pride in his only child.

He took in his wife Lucy as a proud mom as well of Juliana.

“Mom and I are so proud of you,” the prize- winning actor said of his daughter’s fate.

He said that Lucy was emotional when her chip of the old block went up onstage to receive her diploma, Sablay, a UP sash.

“Mom was in tears going up the stage. My eyes were in tears too when I went back to my seat as things sank into my head and realized how time flies so fast,” Chard described.

According to Google, the graduates — during the commencement exercises — wear the Sablay at the right shoulder, it is then moved to the left shoulder after the President of the University confers their degree.

The moving of the Sablay is akin to the moving of the tassel of the academic cap.

Usually, the Sablay is worn over traditional attire like Barong Tagalog for men and terno or other Filipiniana dress for women.

Google also mentioned as it quoted facts and information from the Facebook page of the ASEAN Culture and History that Sablay is rooted from Muslim tradition.

It is adapted from the Muslim tribes of Mindanao that added dimension and color to the graduation of Filipino students.

Sablay was first worn at the UP Diliman graduation and eventually all UP satellite units followed suit.

It fitted Juliana to a T who has been a pride not only of the academic community but of school sports events as well.

The Gomez scion is a champion in the fencing sport of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Female Fencing Team.

Juliana has bagged numerous awards locally and internationally from her fencing playoffs, one of the overseas victories was in Thailand recently.

In his additional message to Juliana, Richard encouraged his daughter to reach for higher goals in life.

“Go on and make things better and beautiful,” noted the rep from Leyte.
