Rep. Co thanks Senate for hike in the budget for youth

Congresswoman Natasha Co, expressed her thanks to the Senate for increasing the budget for children and students.

BHW Partylist representative Angelica Natasha Co chair of the Committee on Welfare Children, thanked the Senate finance committee chaired by Sen. Sonny Angara for the hefty increases in the budgets of agencies responsible for the country's children and students.

Co expressed her appreciation to the Senate for increasing the budget of the following agencies: Council for the Welfare of Children - ₱60.132 million; Juvenile Justice and Welfare Council - ₱100 million; National Authority for Child Care - ₱300 million; Philippine Commission on Women - ₱21.295 million; National Nutrition Council - ₱37.83 million; Philippine Children’s Medical Center - ₱673 million; Department of Health - ₱4.8 billion; Early Childhood Care and Dev. Council - ₱232.383 million; SUCs in the Bicol Region - ₱122.562 million; University of the Philippines - ₱1.127 billion; Department of Education - ₱911.857 million and the Commission on Higher Education - ₱512.5 million

November being National Children’s Month makes this funding support for children all the more significant.

“We sincerely appreciate that the Senate heard and acted on the appeals for these agencies responsible for the welfare of Filipino children and students.”

In observance of National Children's Month, The House of Representatives highlights the proposed legislative agenda for children and consultations on the guidelines for a new law against child abuse.
