For years, fans had missed the handsome faces and sweet voices of Rene Puno and Chad Borja who were both members of the multigenerational Minstrels.

Now, Rene and Chad followers will finally see and hear them in a special show billed “Timeless...Music and Laughter” at the Century Park Sheraton Hotel on Saturday, February 15.

Although they are part of comedian-host-cum-public servant Arnell Ignacio’s gig, Puno and Borja will surely stand out as balladeers in their own right.

Rene, who is now a lawyer, was part of Minstrels Gen 1 while Chad was a Johnny-come-lately in the reimagining and reinventing the group as a new musical creation in the 90s.

“Marami talagang members ang Minstrels mula nang magsimula ito (There were and still are many members of the group ever since it was formed. Ako, sa (I was in the) Second Generation New Minstrels ako kasama. It was a very exciting year for me. 1979 ‘yon, kung hindi ako nagkakamali. It was an honor to be part of the New Minstrels,” shared Joseph Olfindo.

“Naabutan ko na rin si (I was able to catch up with) Rene who was very popular at the time especially when he went solo,” informed Joseph.

Although Arnell’s post-Valentine concert has some members of the current New Minstrels Gen 5, Puno and Borja are already classics.

Alynna, who was part of the past Minstrels, will also join the music and laughter engagement of Ignacio.

Actress Liz Alindogan, the producer of the show, farmed out various members of the New Minstrels to add up dimensions to the hilarious spirit of Arnell, who is also the Administrator of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
