The powerful Remulla clan of Cavite is now devastated with the arrest Tuesday of the eldest son of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin ‘Boying’ Remulla in Las Pinas over a P1.3 million package of high-grade cannabis from overseas.

The arrest of Juanito Jose Diaz Remulla III—son of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin ‘Boyin’ Remulla—for possession of P1.3 million worth of suspected kush (high grade marijuana) in Las Pinas City on Tuesday will be the litmus test on how the Marcos administration’s war on drugs differ from that of President Duterte.

Marcos in his speech during his state visit in New York said his drug war will be more focused on rehabilitation and this was later confirmed by Remulla before the Geneva conference of the UN Human Rights Commission when he said it would be “more humane.”

The powerful Remulla clan of Cavite is now “devastated” with the arrest of DoJ Secretary’s son but vowed to “follow the due process of law,” said a story on political blog site, Politiko.

Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla, in a statement, said “our family is devastated with these developments most especially my 87- year- old mother,” he posted on Facebook.

“We thank everyone for their calls of concern but rest assured that we are on top of the situation and that we shall abide in accordance with the due process of law,” he said.

Remulla doused speculations that the family might interfere with the case of Boying’s son.

“We have been asked numerous times by friends and associates to intervene with their family members’ cases and we have never in any way intervened. We are not about to break any rules now,” he said adding he hopes the statement “puts all speculations to rest.”

Boying Remulla promised he won’t interfere with the case as his son has to face his latest predicament.

“We all know about unconditional love but at 38 years old, he will have to face his predicament as a fully emancipated child,” Remulla said in a handwritten statement.
“I wish my son a path to redemption,” he added.
“I will not intervene in nor influence my son’s predicament, and I have not done so in any way. A person should always face the consequence of his actions. I will let justice take its own course.”

Remulla also thanked the PDEA for doing its job “without fear or favor.” He said he has no conflict with the anti-drug agency.

A scourge

Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) Director Gilbert Remulla called drug addiction a “scourge” as he broke his silence Thursday on his nephew’s arrest for alleged illegal possession of kush or high- grade marijuana.

“Many families have crosses to bear. This is ours. Drug addiction is the scourge that ruins lives, tears families apart and breaks loving hearts,” Gilbert tweeted.

Juanito Jose Remulla III, the eldest son of Gilbert’s brother, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla, was arrested on October 11 in Las Piñas City with packs of suspected kush valued at P1.3 million, with the drug package reportedly intended for him allegedly from overseas.
