Nestled in the serene landscape of Talisay City, Negros Occidental, Melba’s Farm is a hidden gem that offers a unique escape from the hustle and bustle of urban life. Accredited by the Department of Tourism (DOT) for its outstanding agri-tourism offerings, this 10-hectare haven is an exemplary model of sustainable tourism, blending relaxation with environmental stewardship.

On our recent visit to Melba’s Farm, I was struck by the harmony between modern amenities and traditional Filipino architecture.

The highlight of our stay was sleeping in a modern Bahay Kubo — a traditional Filipino stilt house made with bamboo and nipa palm. These dwellings, though simple in design, are equipped with modern comforts, providing a cozy and authentic experience that reconnects visitors with nature.

The mornings at Melba’s Farm are nothing short of magical. We began our day with a refreshing swim in the farm’s fresh spring water. The crisp, cool water invigorated our senses and set the perfect tone for the day. There's something profoundly rejuvenating about swimming in natural spring water, surrounded by lush greenery and the soothing sounds of nature.

After our swim, I enjoyed a delightful breakfast made entirely from the farm's produce. The simplicity and freshness of the meal were remarkable. We had sweet bananas and kamote (sweet potatoes), paired with a robust brew of farm-produced coffee. The flavors were pure and unadulterated, a testament to the farm’s commitment to sustainable and organic farming practices. Eating food grown and harvested on-site provided a deeper appreciation for the work that goes into sustainable agriculture.

Educational, Too

Melba’s Farm is not just about relaxation; it’s also an educational experience. The farm’s owner, Alvin Carranza, emphasizes conservation, preservation, and protection of the environment.

The farm serves as a living classroom where visitors can learn about zero-carbon footprint agricultural systems and other innovative practices aimed at taking better care of our planet. This educational aspect enhances the overall experience, making it not just a getaway but a meaningful retreat.

The facilities at Melba’s Farm cater to a wide range of activities. The open-air hall and villas are perfect for corporate meetings, seminars, and conventions that seek a backdrop of nature. The infinity pool offers a stunning view and a serene spot for relaxation.

The farm's focus on forest bathing—immersing oneself in the forest atmosphere—is a unique offering that underscores its commitment to holistic well-being.

During our visit, I found that Melba’s Farm embodies a rare blend of luxury and simplicity. It allows you to disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with the natural one. This almost-secret spot is perfect for anyone looking to unwind and rejuvenate while learning about sustainable living practices.

More Than A Vacation

Our stay at Melba’s Farm was more than just a vacation—it was a soulful experience that taught us the importance of living harmoniously with nature.

We left with a renewed sense of peace and a deeper understanding of sustainable agriculture.

For anyone seeking a serene escape that also offers valuable insights into eco-friendly living, Melba’s Farm is a destination not to be missed.
