Quezon Province, long celebrated as the “Coconut Capital of the Philippines,” is primed for significant growth as new legislative initiatives and rising copra prices breathe fresh life into its agricultural sector.

In a decisive move, the House Committee on Agriculture and Food, chaired by 1st District Cong. Mark Enverga, has intensified efforts to pass reforms that will strengthen the entire value chain of the coconut industry.

This legislative momentum comes as the Philippine Coconut Authority reports that the farmgate price of copra in Region IV-A (CALABARZON), which includes Quezon, has reached ₱60.05 per kilogram as of February 19, 2026.

Millgate prices have also risen to ₱68.53 per kilogram, offering much-needed relief to thousands of coconut farmers across the province who have long faced unstable incomes and volatile market conditions.

Cong. Enverga has long stood as a vocal and proactive champion for coconut farmers, not only in Quezon but across the country.

He regularly holds dialogues and consultations in rural communities, ensuring farmers’ voices are heard at the national level.

“Our coconut farmers are at the heart of Quezon’s economy and heritage,” Enverga stated during a recent stakeholders’ forum.

“We are committed to crafting policies that will provide them with lasting support, from farm productivity to fair market access and value-added opportunities.”

Under his guidance, the Committee on Agriculture and Food has prioritized landmark bills to modernize the coconut sector.

These include measures to replant and rehabilitate aging coconut trees, provide direct financial assistance and subsidies, expand crop insurance coverage, and offer technical training.

Enverga has also been instrumental in securing funding for the construction of new processing facilities within Quezon, which will enable local farmers to participate in higher-value segments of the supply chain and benefit from the growing demand for coconut oil, virgin coconut oil, coco sugar, and other exports.

In addition to legislative advocacy, Cong. Enverga has worked with local government units, cooperatives, and the private sector to improve farm-to-market roads, logistics, and infrastructure, making it easier for farmers to transport their products to both domestic and international buyers.

His vision is to empower smallholder farmers, ensuring they are not left behind in the push for agricultural modernization and increased global competitiveness.

Quezon’s coconut industry remains vital to the province’s economy, supporting nearly half a million residents.

While challenges such as aging tree populations and price instability persist, the combination of favorable market prices, innovative policies, and strong political will—embodied by Cong. Enverga’s leadership—signals a promising new chapter for coconut farmers in Quezon.

As these reforms take root, the province is set to maintain its status as the country’s coconut capital and secure a more resilient, prosperous future for its agricultural communities.
