Quezon Province Gov. Angelina Tan or "Doc Helen" led the commemoration of the 145th birth anniversary of Former President Manuel Quezon, held at Manuel Quezon Monument in Perez Park in Lucena City.

Quezon is the Second President of the Philippines and the First President of the Philippine Commonwealth, serving his presidency in two terms from November 15, 1935 to December 30, 1941 and Second Term from December 30, 1941 to August 1, 1944.

He was born on August 19, 1878 in Baler, Aurora (previously Tayabas Province) and succumbed to tuberculosis (TB) on August 1, 1944 in Saranac Lake, New York. The notable accomplishment of his presidency is the passage of 'Jones Act' which granted the Independence of the Philippines. He is also dubbed as 'Father of the National Language'.

145 years old supposed to be ang ating minamahal na pangulo," said Governor Tan.

I want our people to be like a molave tree' ".

In Quezon City, Mayor Joy Belmonte spearheaded the wreath laying ceremony in commemoration of Quezon's Day at Quezon Memorial Circle. The National Museum on the other hand unveils the monumental marker declaring Quezon Memorial Shine as National Cultural Treasures.

The Quezon Memorial Shrine is the center and prominent landmark in Quezon Memorial Circle.

The shrine features the 66-meter three pylons, above the pylons are angel sculptures representing Philippines' three largest island groups, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The landmark also serves as the mausoleum of the former president with his remains laid underneath.
