Prov'l board honors outstanding individuals, LGUs

Aside from passing policymaking legislative measures, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Quezon led by its presiding officer, vice governor Third Alcala, has passed a string of provincial resolutions recognizing outstanding individuals or institutions that showcase accomplishments, excellence of service and best practices that benefit and serve as inspirations to the community.

On Monday during its 39th regular session, the SP has commended 2 of its own members, Vinnette Alcala-Naca and Maria Yllana Liwanag-Asistio, both from the province’ 2nd District, for their election and assumption of duties as legislators in their respective organizations where they belong.


The SP attended by all its 14 members, has awarded Provincial Resolution No. 2026-179 commending and congratulating Alcala-Naca on her election as president of the Lady Local Legislators League of the Philippines (4L) Quezon Chapter, “recognizing her exemplary leadership in advancing women empowerment and gender-responsive governance in the Province of Quezon.”


The SP also issued Provincial Resolution No. 2026-144 commending and congratulating Liwanag-Asistio for her reelection as Deputy Treasurer of the National Movement of Young Legislators during its 27th National Convention and Election of the National Executive Committee.


The SP welcomed the presence of former Quezon provincial federation president of Liga ng mga Barangay-Quezon Chapter and ex-officio SP member Ireneo Boongaling who, along with his Sangguniang Bayan members came to receive the awarding of Provincial Resolution No. 2026-172 extending “the warmest congratulations and highest commendation of the Sang. Panglalawigan of Quezon to the Municipal Government of Candelaria, through its Sangguniang Bayan, for being recognized as a National Finalist in the 2025 Local Legislative Awards (1st-3rd Class Municipal Category) during the 2026 Philippine Councilors League (PCL) National Congress”.


Lucban mayor Agustin Villaverde and his Sangguniang Bayan councilors also attended the SP session to receive Provincial Resolution No. 2026-148 commending the municipal council and Mun. Councilor Marife Hari for the recognition conferred to them during the 1st Gawad Galing Lokal na Batas 2026 of the Phil. Councilors League for Ordinance No. 2023-15 known as the “Revised Lucban Market Code of 2023 during the PCL National Congress which took place last March 4-6 at the World Trade Center in Manila.


Boongaling who spoke to express his thanks to the SP and in behalf of his SB colleagues vowed to do their best in passing local legislations for the benefit of their constituents and stressed their satisfaction for being recognized as a National Finalist in their municipal class category and hoped that they get the top prize in behalf of the province.


Aside from Lucban and Candelaria, the city government of Lucena, through its city council headed by vice mayor Roderick Alcala, also emerged as a National Finalist in the Highly Urbanized City Category during the same PCL event. Councilors Baste Brizuela and Ona came to receive the award of SP provincial resolution No. 2026-173 commending and congratulating the city council presided by vice mayor Alcala.


The SP also passed resolutions commending and congratulating Ms. Jane Cristel Bohol from Candelaria for winning the prestigious EMC Global Award during the EMC Global Summit 2026 held in Bellesalle Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan; to College of Allied Medicine-Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology of the Southern Luzon State University in Lucban for ranking 5th in the Top Ten Performing Schools in the December 2025 Radiologic Technologists’ Licensure Examination; to Mr. Michael Sherwin Macatangay, recognized as the “Best Executive Management Consulting CEO” and “APAC CEO of the year 2024” during the 2025 State of Accomplishment and Reforms conducted by the UP National College of Public Administration and Governance.


The SLSU-Main Campus was awarded with Provincial Res. No. 2026-170 for achieving as the 2nd Top Performing School with 98.83% passing rate in Feb. 2026 Phil. Nurses Licensure Exam (PNLE); Marc Angelo Luna, a graduate of SLSU-Main Campus in Lucban was also awarded with a provincial resolution for placing 7th in the Feb. 2026 PNLE with a rating of 90.20%; John Michael Salanda, from the same school for ranking 10th in the same exam with a rating of 89.60%; and the 1st Batch of BS Nursing of SLSU-Gumaca Campus for achieving a 97.30% passing rate in Feb. 2026 PNLE.
