The Stop Kaliwa Dam group, composed of indigenous people residing in the Kaliwa watershed, called on the government plan to stop the building of the Kaliwa dam project.
The proposed Kaliwa Low Dam, which the government planned since 2012, was one of several bulk water supply projects in the upper portion of the Kaliwa River Watershed that is designed to produce 600 million liters a day (MLD) of water from a tunnel that has a capacity of 2,400 MLD. Had it been built it was expected to ease the demand on the Angat Dam, Manila's sole water storage facility. The protesters held a press conference this morning in QC.
