Provincial chief executives convene at a hotel in Quezon City on Saturday, September 2, to launch an initiative called Project 28.
This represents 28 capital towns who wish to the pass the pending Capital Towns Bill in the 19th Congress. Project 28 ad-hoc co-convener Mayor Juris Sucro, of Kalibo, Aklan said there are five pending bills currently pending in the House of Representatives that proposed the automatic cityhood for capital towns. These also seek to introduce an exception to the general rules on conversion laid down in Section 450 of the Local Government Code.
