Waving the colors of the rainbow in celebration to the acceptance and inclusivity of our fellow Filipinos, despite their sexual orientation and preferences, the path of acceptance touches the heart of more and more Filipinos.
In the recent survey of Social Weather Stations (SWS), 79 percent of the Filipinos agreed that gays or lesbians could draw trust like any other Filipino.
The survey also showed that 73 percent have acknowledged that the gays and lesbians could largely contribute to society's progression.
As for the LGBTQIA+ community, however, they could only be happier if the true meaning of a free and inclusive society has reached at least 90 percent. Meaning, acceptance, even as 40 percent still show rejection especially among immediate family members.
The same survey further shows that almost half of the representative population covered showed that 43 percent have recognized that HIV-AIDS afflicts gays and lesbians and 26 percent believe that this illness is highly contagious or transmissible.
Released only recently, this survey was conducted from March 26 to 29 through a face-to-face interview of 1,200 adults with a +2.8 percent sampling margin of error.
Majority of LGBTQIA+ community members look forward to support from all sectors of the government, the society and their family so they could be free from judgment and unfair treatment.
Meanwhile, the Quezon City government launched a transformational "Right to Care Card" for all LGBTQIA+ couples that are city residents. With this, the city government grants a Special Power of Attorney for couples to execute decisions when it comes to the health of their partners.
