Aside from the celebration of the Feast of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo, Manila every January 9, Mandaluyong City holds its own procession to mark the arrival of the image of Nuestro Padre Señor Jesus de Nazareno or Jesus the Black Nazarene from its original home in Luneta to Quiapo in Manila. Similar processions are also made in other major cities in the Philippines, which serve not only to spread the devotion to the Black Nazarene but also alleviate the deluge of devotees converging at the Quiapo Church during the feast day.
