Commuters relying on the Philippine National Railways (PNR) in Laguna and Quezon provinces are advised to look for other modes of transportation.

This, as the state-run railway announced that trips between Calamba City, Laguna and Lucena City, Quezon are once again suspended starting June 17.

In a Facebook post, PNR management said the suspension of the Calamba-Lucena trips is due to "major repairs" being undertaken on the trainset used for this route.

PNR said it hopes to resume its Calamba-Lucena trips by the first or second week in July.

Trips between Calamba City and Lucena City, which were started in 2022, had also been suspended a few times due to problems on the PNR's tracks and equipment.

The state-run railway had earlier announced the possibility of a return of trips between Quezon province and the Bicol region later this year.

PNR personnel had completed this month repair works at the Binahan Bridge in Ragay, Camarines Sur, while test runs between Naga City and Tagkawayan, Quezon are expected to start by the last quarter of 2025.

The railway is also preparing to transfer trainsets still at its Manila yards to Quezon and Bicol later this year.
