PLDT to adapt new moniker and continues to sign new players for PVL 2022 season

IN the continuing rebuild of PLDT Home for the upcoming 2022 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) season, with the influx of new players coming in, the team will now also be known as the High Speed Hitters as the club announced on social media Thursday night.

After the exit of the bulk of their previous roster and their head coach Roger Gorayeb, the High Speed Hitters has been non-stop in signing new members of their team starting with their new head coach, George Pascua who is also the current head coach of the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines and serves as an assistant coach for the Philippine Women's National Volleyball Team.

Aside from tapping a new head coach, on January 17, PLDT announced that Jovy Prado and Dell Palomata, both were formerly with the Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors, will join the squad in a social media post.

"This duo is ready to provide uninterrupted levels of play in the upcoming PVL season! Don’t sleep on these gals! Welcome home, Jovy and Dell," PLDT wrote in the caption.

A day after, a trio of new players was announced in former Shakey's V-League Best Setter Wendy Semana, former Cignal spiker Fiola Ceballos and ex-University of the East player Lhara Clavano.

The 35-year-old Semana said in an interview how she missed playing the game and was actually invited by coach Pascua to try out for his new team and was eventually given a chance to be included for the next conference.

Lastly, the last pair to be signed by PLDT were former Perlas Spikers Jules Samonte who skipped her final playing year in Ateneo de Manila University to turn pro and join Perlas and Heather Guino-o who also played for Perlas for the past two seasons after playing college volleyball in Far Eastern University.

The roster of PLDT now consists of Rhea Dimaculangan, Chin Basas, Eli Soyud, and Nieza Viray, players who were retained from last season, in addition to new signees Kath Arado, Jessey De Leon, Mean Mendrez, Dell Palomata, Jovie Prado, Wendy Semana, Fiola Ceballos, Lhara Clavano, Jules Samonte and Heather Guino-o.
