BUCHEON CITY, SOUTH KOREA—An emerging Filipino filmmaker has been making waves as a film student at the Fantastic Film School (FFS) of the 28th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN) in this city.

Jaime Morados, a twenty-five-year-old director of the short film “Ang Pagliligtas sa Dalagang Bukid,” an entry to the 2022 Quezon City International Fantastic Film Festival in the Philippines, is wrapping up on July 10 his studies of genre filmmaking at FFS under international film professionals and practitioners.

Jaime is one of the 31 chosen few who passed the rigorous requirements before an applicant is selected to undergo genre (horror, thriller, sci-fi, supernatural, fantasy and the likes) modes of production.

At the moment, Morados is making waves as a sole Filipino delegate to the genre film education and networking program for developing filmmakers.

According to one of his classmates, Jaime is an attentive, intelligent and hardworking student.

He is also taking advantage of the rare opportunity to learn more about genre filmmaking.

“Sa Pilipinas, wala masyadong (In the Philippines, there’s not much) program on genre filmmaking so this is a chance of a lifetime,” he said.

Jaime is also enjoying his school in BIFAN.

“This is a blast. Aside from meeting new friends from among my classmates and festival guests, I am also learning a lot about the movie industries in other countries,” he explained.

Tomorrow, July 10, Jaime and his classmates will graduate from the various courses designed for them like Editing, Storytelling, Visual Effects, among others.
