Award-winning multimedia artist Kiri Dalena will stay in Europe, particularly in Germany, to hold a solo exhibition at the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein in Berlin from December 7, 2024 to February 2, 2025.
During the Philippine Graphic’s Salute Award recently held at the Samsung Performing Arts Hall at SM Aura in Taguig City where Kiri and equally prizewinning artist-mom Julie Luch were guests, Dalena said she would fly to Germany the soonest to prepare for her art exhibit of multimedia works.
The art hub which is also known as n.b.k. has featured various international artists across continents in various fields and persuasions.
“I am pleased to be given another platform to show my art works,” informed Kiri who is the only Filipino to be presented in the n.bk. for 2024.
Not only are Kiri’s moving image works to be shown at the n.b.k. but her photographs and books as well. A highlight will be a two-channel video work made in collaboration with Berlin-based artist Ben Brix, featuring the music of Datu Arellano, Erwin Romulo, and John Sobrepeña.
Kiri is known for her feature film “The Guerilla is a Poet” (2013) as director and “Ka Oryang” (2011) as cinematographer.
She also has short films as director tucked under belt like “From the Dark Depths” (2017), “Tungkung Langit” (2013), among others.
In a contemporary art platform such as the n.b.k., her art pieces are also incorporated smf will be shown as video installations.
The curator of Kiri’s exhibit is Michaela Richter.
According to e-flux announcements, the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein is being funded by the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Community.
