A pilot instructor died when his plane, a single engine Cessna 152 crash landed at Barangay Sual, Alaminos, Pangasinan on Wednesday, the country's aviation regulator said.
Initial reports showedthe pilot instructor identified as Captain Daryl Uy died on the spot, while his student identified as Caran France Kaura, 21, was immediately brought to the Western Pangasinan District Hospital for treatment.
Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) spokesman Eric Apolonio said the aircraft - a two-seater training fixed wing with registry number RP-C8202 - took off from Lingayen Airport at 8:22 a.m. for an orientation flight before it crash landed into a pond.
Apolonio said that CAAP's Aircraft Investigation and Inquiry Board has been dispatched to the crash scene to determine the cause of the incident.
The Cessna plane was operated by Fly Fast Aviation Academy, Apolonio said.
The Cessna 152 is an American two-seat, fixed-tricycle-gear, general aviation airplane, used primarily for flight training and personal use.(BENJAMIN LIM)
