The Philippines was judged Asia's Leading Beach Destination at the 2024 World Travel Awards in September and again the best diving destination at the TripZilla Excellence Awards 2024 in November, reported Vietnam's VnExpress International last November 27.

VnExpress said the Philippines, crowned Asia's Leading Beach Destination at the 2024 World Travel Awards in September, has emerged as the world's leading dive destination at the awards’ November announcement, wrote travel writer Hoang Vu.

The country, renowned for its pristine coral reefs and crystal-clear, warm waters, with a coastline stretching over 36,000 kilometers, surpassed 10 other contenders including the Maldives in the diving list.

Earlier this month, it was also named the best diving destination at the TripZilla Excellence Awards 2024, which was organized by TripZilla, a Singapore-based online travel media platform with a monthly reach of over 20 million travelers.

Beach tourism plays a vital role in the Philippine economy, driven by its tropical climate and unique geography, which includes more than 7,000 islands.

Established in 1993, the World Travel Awards recognize excellence in the global travel and tourism industry and are often referred to as the "Oscars of the travel industry."

Winners are determined by votes cast by travel professionals and the public.

Manila was alsovoted the world's leading city destination, while Boracay Island was named the world’s leading luxury island destination.

Another article last September written by Hoang Phong said the Philippines has outshone seven other nominees, including Indonesia and Singapore, to be crowned "Asia's leading island destination" at this year's World Travel Awards.

This marks the first time the country, with its more than 7,000 islands, has claimed this title. Last year, Singapore held the distinction.

With a coastline stretching over 36,000 kilometers, the Philippines is renowned for its beach tourism, driven by its tropical climate and unique geography.

This year, the Philippines was also voted Asia's leading dive destination, boasting 311 listed dive sites across the country, and Asia's leading beach destination.

Established in 1993, the World Travel Awards recognize excellence in the travel and tourism industry and are often referred to as the "Oscars of the travel industry."

These annual awards are determined by votes from both travel industry professionals and the public.
