President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. is set to visit Tacloban City on Monday, May 20, to lead the distribution of Certificates of Land Ownership Award (CLOAs) to the Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) in Region 8.
According to Atty. Robert Anthony Yu, regional director of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Eastern Visayas, a total of 5,060 farmers from the region who do not own land will be the beneficiaries of this program.
These rice fields will come from the 5,000 individual land titles covering an aggregate area of 7,974 hectares of rice fields located in different parts of Eastern Visayas.
These titles are electronically generated under the World Bank-funded Support to Parcelization of Lands for Individual Titling (SPLIT) project.
The President is expected to turn over a total budget of P509 million intended for infrastructure projects to Local Government Units (LGUs), which includes farm machinery and equipment, said Yu.
DAR Secretary Conrado Estrella III will also be present in this event.
