A passenger traveling with his son was stopped at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2 for possession of prohibited substances on Tuesday, March 19.

Even though he admitted to carrying drugs voluntarily, the suspect, identified as Alvin Jubert Rojo, was taken to the PNP-Aviation Security office for further questioning.

Office for Transportation Security (OTS) screener Rowena Martinez said that during the final security check at the airport, the Bacolod-bound passenger admitted that his bag contained illegal items and was supposed to dispose of it in the trash so that he and his child could board their flight home to the province.

Martinez, however, informed the PNP Aviation Security Unit office and NAIA Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) about the incident.

According to NAIA-PDEA head Gerald Javier, during the inspection, they found a glass tube, two lighters and a plastic sachet with the alleged illegal items inside Rojo's bag.

Various ATM cards, three cellphones and a tablet were also recovered by police from the suspect.

Rojo was later brought to Camp Crame for medical treatment before he was transferred to the PDEA main office in Quezon City.
