A passenger was taken into custody by the PNP-Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP) for making a joke that resulted in the delay of a flight heading to Cebu for more than two hours.
AVSEGROUP said the forty-eight year old Leonardo Tugahan has violated PD 1727 or the Anti-Bomb Joke Law after he cracked a joke at past 4:00 p.m. Sunday, May 25.
According to AVSEGROUP, the Airport Police Department at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 received information regarding an alleged bomb joke at Bay 126 by a staff of 1Aviation Operations Control Center.
Together with AVSEGROUP, they "proceeded to the area for validation and police intervention."
Aviation authorities were forced to bring all of the luggage to the ramp away from the aircraft.
At 5:05 p.m., police authorities conducted paneling and inspection on the baggage of the passengers of Cebu Pacific flight 5J-571 at the NAIA ramp, but turned out negative for any explosives.
The suspect was later brought to the Aviation police office at Terminal 3 for further investigation.
