Bagong Henerasyon Partylist Rep. Bernadette ``BH Herrera has proposed House Resolution No. 926 which calls for an investigation into reports of shortage in the supply of plastic license ID cards meant for Filipino drivers.
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is closely coordinating with the Department of Transportation (DOTR) in the procurement of the supplies to address the backlog.
The lawmaker has called on the two agencies to coordinate the immediate procurement of the supplies which was stalled by procedural issues.
Rep. Herrera said Congress is in the process of amending the procurement laws which led to the LTO encountering delay in the supply of plastic license cards. Bills on procurement were still pending in House committee on revision of laws, she added.
She also sought the appearance of Anti-Red Tape Authority to add inputs, findings and recommendation to help in speeding up the delivery of the plastic license ID cards.
``We have confidence in the leadership of the LTO in the person of its Chief, Assistant Secretary Jay Art Tugade with DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista at the helm,’’ Rep. Herrera said.
