JAPANESE electronics giant Panasonic said it would resume local production and sales of electric fans and washing machines in the next few weeks following a fire that devastated the factory lines for these products.

In a statement, Panasonic Manufacturing Philippines hinted at resuming the production of appliances in its factory along Ortigas Ave Extension Taytay Rizal – electric fans restarted production on February 6 and will start sales next month, and washing machines will restart production in March with sales to resume in April.

On December 13 last year, a fire gutted Panasonic’s Laguna Technopark plant where the company manufactures electric fans and washing machines. No injuries or fatalities were reported. The window aircon and refrigerator factory were not affected. Panasonic said its Laguna plant is currently undergoing reconstruction and renovation.
