They say that the youth is the hope of the future. However, a recent fiasco inside a café in Palo, Leyte made the public think twice. A video of public indecency is now trending on Facebook, helped by the irresponsible and shameful act of the restaurant staff who released such material.

A CCTV video taken last October 24 at 3pm caught two male, presumed to be students, engaging in oral sex inside Bo’s Coffee has baffled loyal customers and netizens. Said individuals were customers who were supposed to be dining at the establishment. The video was allegedly posted by a staff member who recorded the video as other personnel were watching the scene in real time. Female staff can also be heard laughing and taking a video of the footage.

“Oo na, sayop an ira gin buhat. Pero need ba talaga ig post an video online? What if ma identify hira? Tapos diri nira makaya it shame because of the “nagmamalinis” mentality hit society. Magiging responsible ba kamo kun magka mental health issues an kabataan?” netizen Servus Dei posted.

Many are calling out management of the café for the unprofessional behavior of the staff. The customers should have been reprimanded for their scandalous behavior. The restaurant staff who upload the video was perhaps unaware that there is criminal liability on what he or she did.

Once identified, the involved personnel may face charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9995 or the Anti-photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009.This law that makes it a crime to take photos of a naked person without his or her consent, and also to record a video of people having sex without their consent.

Another law might have been violated – RA 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 which completely addresses crimes committed by means of computer systems.

Meanwhile, the owner of the establishment, Board Member Wilson Uy, released a statement on the behavior of his employees. According to Uy, they have no control on the behavior of their customers but assure the public that they will conduct an investigation on the incident and reprimand the employee who posted the now viral video inside his business establishment.

“Kalalabad. Bad Publicity. Kinahanglan ma delete iton dayon nga nag sasarang nga video scandal ha social media nga nahi unong an management han Bo’s coffee,” Uy said.
