Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) has begun operating daily flights between Manila and Cauayan, Isabela, utilizing De Havilland Dash 8-400 Next Generation aircraft on Wednesday.
PAL Express flight 2P2018, carrying 86 passengers and four crew members, left Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) at 1:35 p.m. for a one hour and five minutes flight.
The send-off ceremony was attended by various local government officials and aviation stakeholders.
The new PAL service offers daily flights for the convenience of traveling tourists, businessmen and families.
The Manila-Cauayan flights provide a quicker alternative to the long journey by land that takes over 10 hours.
Cauayan is being promoted as a gateway to Isabela province, famous for its annual festivals such as Bambanti and Gawagaway-yan.
According to Cauayan City Mayor Caesar "Jaycee" Dy, Jr., Cauayan City is a jump point of tourism in the Northern East of the Philippines. It will bring economic growth to the city and its province.
