Just a month before Northern Samar’s Ibabao Festival, Miss Universe Philippines 2025 candidates visited the province for a photoshoot and an ecotourism tour to explore their rich heritage and breathtaking natural beauty. Their 4-day journey started on March 29 and ended on April 2, 2025.
Arriving via Calbayog Airport, the beauty queens were greeted by the warm hospitality of Nortehanons, starting their journey with a courtesy visit, press conference with the province’s governor, and of course a motorcade parade around the municipality of Catarman where it showcased not just their beauty, but also the culture, and spirit of Northern Samar.
The candidates then set out on their eco journey of Northern Samar’s breathtaking natural scenery and attractions. Their itinerary included the Biri Island Rock Formation, Isla Capul, the iconic Pink Beach, and the majestic Macadlaw Rock, they also experienced the province’s agricultural richness at KEENISAN Aqua Farm and witnessed the traditional art of Pinangat Making by visiting one of the makers, as well as the serene beauty of San Roque Clearwater Resort and the lush green environment of Lalaguna Mangrove Eco Park. Visiting the historic Catubig Church provided a glimpse into Northern Samar’s rich cultural heritage.
The queens engaged themselves as well in the province’s culture as they danced to the Kuratsa during the Gala Night last April 1, a traditional folk dance that tells about the story of courtship.
On the same night, the Northern Samar Ambassadresses were also announced, namely: Miss Quezon Province Ma. Ahtisa Manalo, Miss Muntinlupa Teresita Ssen “Wynwyn” Marquez, and Miss Sultan Kudarat Chelsea Fernandez. According to the Provincial Government of Northern Samar Facebook Page, the title reflects the candidates’ enthusiasm in the province’s culture, values, and beauty, forging meaningful connections with the local community in the short span of their visit.
The Miss Universe Philippines 2025 candidates truly showcased Northern Samar’s potential as a tourist destination, highlighting its wealth both natural beauty and culture to a wider audience. The candidates’ journey, as documented through numerous images and videos, will serve to promote the province’s attractions in attracting both local and international tourists.
