Thirty-seven-year-old Celina Velasco arranges images of the Black Nazarene, which she sells for prices ranging from P6,500 up to P65,000, depending on the size, in her handicrafts shop located in Barangay Quinale, Paete, Laguna.
Velasco mentioned that her family has been involved in the handicrafts industry for about 38 years, crafting various religious images from different types of wood. Paete, Laguna is renowned as the Carving Capital of the Philippines for its production of numerous artisans and skilled craftsmen who create various artworks carved from wood.
