BURUANGA, Aklan — The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has taken a significant step towards boosting tourism in the region by awarding a P743-million contract for constructing a new cruise ship port in Buruanga, Aklan.
The winning bidder, IBC International Builders Corp., secured the contract with the lowest bid among 11 qualified companies.
This development is a promising move for the local economy.
A dedicated cruise ship port in Barangay Alegria will provide a safer and more convenient transportation experience for tourists. It will also be able to accommodate larger ships, potentially increasing the number of visitors to Aklan. This can lead to more job opportunities and economic growth in the area.
However, the PPA and IBC International Builders Corp. need to ensure the project is completed on time and within budget. The construction, scheduled to finish 900 days from the notice to proceed, must be carefully managed to avoid delays and additional costs.
Overall, the new cruise ship port is a welcome development for Buruanga and Aklan. It promises to enhance the region's appeal to tourists and contribute to local economic prosperity.
