DETERMINED to provide assistance and livelihood to the region’s residents who were returning to their respective provinces, the government has earmarked at least P61.14 billion through the so-called "Balik-Probinsya" program.

National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) - Region 8 chief of policy formulation and planning division Annielyn Constiniano, said the Regional Development Council (RDC) has already approved a list of priority programs under the “Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa 2” (BP2) program.

Costiniano said the BP2 which will be implemented by 2023, would focus on housing even as at least 25 percent of the fund will be allocated for livelihood programs.

Also, the National Housing Authority (NHA) has included a package aimed at the development and construction of houses in various locations in Eastern Visayas.

Likewise, infrastructure and developmental projects would include, but not limited to farm-to-market roads as well as broadband networks to support agricultural and agri-business ventures.

The said action plan will be presented in next month’s first quarter full council meeting of RDC for subsequent endorsement to the National BP2 Council. (JKA)
