Countryside Investments Holdings Corporation (Countryside), under the leadership of Solar Philippines founder Leandro Leviste, has unveiled plans to inject approximately P5 billion into the advancement of rural Batangas, affirming the company's dedication to fostering sustainable development within the region.
Countryside announced its collaboration last week (Saturday, 16 March 2024) with Solar Philippines Power Project Holdings, Inc. (Solar Philippines) to spearhead this initiative.
‘World’s largest solar project’
This endeavor follows the commencement of what is touted as the "world’s largest solar project" in the Philippines by SP New Energy Corporation (SPNEC) in January, as well as MGen Renewable Energy's substantial P15.9-billion investment in SPNEC on December 27, 2023.
Proceeds from these significant transactions, alongside other financing arrangements, are designated for a series of development undertakings in Western Batangas, an area where Countryside and its affiliates hold substantial land assets, according to the statement.
The investment's strategic emphasis lies on sectors with the potential for significant positive impact on the local economy, such as energy, industrial, and commercial ventures.
Employment generation
These endeavors aim to generate employment opportunities, thereby addressing the pressing need for job creation.
One noteworthy project set to stimulate the local economy is the SPNEC-led 63 MW Calatagan Solar Farm, which also aligns with sustainability goals.
This endeavor signifies the initial step in a sequence of developments poised to deliver enduring economic advantages to the community, as highlighted in the statement.
Furthermore, Countryside pledges to collaborate closely with Batangas communities to ensure inclusive growth and development.
