Over ₱4-billion worth of dangerous drugs and controlled precursors and essential chemicals (CPECs) were destroyed by officials of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Trece Martires City, Cavite, on April 17.

The PDEA held the burning of the 726,378.5093 kilograms of drugs amounting to ₱4,154,802,996.83 at the Integrated Waste Management, Inc. (IWMI) in Barangay Aguado, Trece Martires City, Cavite. Other law enforcement officials witnessed the event.

The contraband were destroyed through thermal decomposition or thermolysis to make them impossible to reconstitute.

The PDEA oversees the destruction of all seized dangerous drugs in compliance with the guidelines set on the custody and disposition of seized dangerous drugs under Section 21, Article II of Republic Act 9165 or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Dangerous Drugs Board Regulation No. 1, Series of 2002.
