The Office for Transportation Security of the Department of Transportation mulls filing of charges against employees involved in illegal recruitment

The management of the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) yesterday said they would file criminal charges against erring personnel involved in alleged illegal recruitment.

The OTS said their attention had been called to the alleged involvement of its employee, a Nelly Dimaano, by a local radio station last December 9.

"The management has since conducted an investigation to uncover those involved in the scheme, and made its stand to put a stop to such practice, which it considers to be both patently and grossly immoral and illegal," the OTS said in a statement, adding that the sweeping allegations against Dimaano were uncontroverted.

"She even deliberately admitted that she had in fact received money in exchange for placing the victims under the employ of the OTS," the agency added.

The OTS also said that it had launched investigation to determine and identify other employees involved in the scheme.

The agency, which is under the Department of Transportation (DOTr), said it will never allow anybody intending to flout the law, much more so that it drags the whole agency, resulting in diminished public confidence in OTS.

"We shall file cases against those officers and personnel involved and guilty of such gross misconduct, and see to it that appropriate safeguards will be implemented to prevent similar incidents," the statement said.

The OTS also advised the public to submit their job applications directly to the OTS Human Resource Section - Administrative and Finance Service through email address: hr@ots.gov.ph .

"We encourage the public to report any instance of similar illegal recruitment activities to the Office of the Administrator, through the Public Affairs Division, at email address: pio@ots.gov.ph ," the agency said.
