Office for Transportation Security (OTS) Officer-in-Charge Jose Briones Jr. recently commended an OTS employee who found an envelope that contained US dollars in cash.
Security Screening Officer (SSO) Wilfredo Riego Jr. has turned over a brown envelope with $2,000 cash at the Lost and Found section of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2 after he found it on Thursday while conducting routine security screening operation and equipment testing.
According to the OTS management, Riego found the brown envelope at the shoe bench area near the x-ray machine.
Reports said, when nobody stepped forward to claim the envelope, Riego, along with supervisors Gretchen Abenir and Rudy April Peregrino, promptly handed it over to the Lost and Found section for inventory and documentation.
OTS has yet to identify the owner of the dollars, for whom authorities are still looking for information about the passenger.
Briones, meanwhile, expressed his appreciation for the honesty and integrity exemplified by the screening team.
Briones said that with the increasing number of lost valuable items that have been returned to the owners, "We can demonstrate the effectiveness of the continuous implementation of our enhanced internal cleansing program. I hope we continue this work so that we can attract tourists to our country by showing them the real Filipino brand of hospitality.".
