Office for Transportation Security (OTS) Administrator Ma. O Aplasca has formally submitted his courtesy resignation to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Aplasca, who joined the OTS in July last year, said he is not ready to sacrifice the organization, but he considered his resignation as an honorable task for the interest of the majority.

Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista confirmed on Tuesday the resignation of Aplasca.

The OTS chief opted to resign after House Speaker Martin Romualdez was quoted as saying that he would personally block the budget of OTS if Aplasca would not quit at the agency following the repeated nefarious activities involving OTS personnel at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

Aplasca earlier stated after the House Speaker mentioned that the OTS would not get its budget if he would not resign, "I have done nothing wrong but to cleanse our office with corrupt officials. Why am I now being attacked? For going after corrupt officals? I think it should be the other way around. The corrupt officials should instead be asked to resign. The case involving stealing of the 300 US dollar bills is still being resolved, mauna pa mawala yung mga nag-iimbestiga. There must be something wrong somewhere."

Aplasca said that he is only doing the anti-corruption campaign in all the airports that has damaged the reputation of the country.

The official said that his office has investigated 68 administrative cases for violation of various disciplinary and administrative policies. He added that from these cases, 11 personnel have already been dismissed.
