DOH – Center for Health Development CALABARZON (CHD-R4A) Director Dr. Eduardo Janairo urged mothers in the region to have their children immunized against these common childhood diseases, as the agency commenced the regionwide vaccine supplemental immunization activity in partnership with local government units.

Even amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the Department of Health (DOH) said it is still prioritizing the prevention of other childhood diseases such as measles, rubella, tetanus, and diphtheria.

Recently, DOH – Center for Health Development CALABARZON (CHD-R4A) Director Dr. Eduardo Janairo urged mothers in the region to have their children immunized against these common childhood diseases, as the agency commenced the regionwide vaccine supplemental immunization activity in partnership with local government units.

“Hindi natin dapat ipagwalang bahala ang kalusugan ng mga bata kaya kahit tayo ay masa pandemya kailangan pa ring maihatid at maibigay ang mga serbisyong pangkalusugan na kinakailangan ng ating mga kababayan,” Janairo said in a recent press release.

According to the director, they are targeting children from 9 to 59 months old for the measles-rubella vaccine and 0-23 months old for tetanus and diphtheria.

The health department is closely working with the LGUs to ensure that no child will be left unvaccinated, according to the regional health chief.

“We must seek out these under five [years old] children and give them the protection they need,” Janairo said.

“Kailangang hanapin at mabakunahan ang mga batang hindi pa nabakunahan or yung me mga incomplete doses at kumpletuhin ang kanilang bakuna para sila ay maproteksyonan laban sa measles, tetanus at diptheria. Lahat ng ito ay pwedeng labanan sa pamamagitan ng tamang bakuna. Safe po at epektibo ang mga bakuna natin, kaya wala po tayong dapat ikatakot dito,” he explained.

The MR-TD vaccination will conclude on December 22, 2021.
