The 72-year old De Castro first resigned from the network when started his political career as a senator and vice president.
He started his senatorial career in 2001 but did not finish his 6-year term after winning the vice-presidency 3 years later.
He returned to the network after serving his term as vice president in 2010.
"Nais kong iparating sa lahat ng aking mga kaibigan at supporters na naghahanda na sanang tumulong sa akin, na nagpasiya akong hindi na ituloy ang aking kandidatura," De Castro said in a statement issued by Aksyon Demokratiko to the media earlier today.

Aside from De Castro, the two other declared candidates of the slate for the senatorial race under the Moreno-led party were Mindanao civic leader Samira Gutoc and education entrepreneur Carl Balita.
Moreno, in response to his withdrawal, said he respects De Castro's decision not to push through with his senatorial candidacy anymore.
