The Office of the Ombudsman officially launched a new Assistance Center in Northern Samar, aiming to make government services more accessible and transparent for local residents.

The center, situated at the Capitol Gym in Catarman, was inaugurated last June 30 in a ceremony attended by key government officials, national agency representatives, and community leaders.

Ombudsman Samuel Martires led the ribbon-cutting ceremony, symbolizing the Office’s commitment to bringing its services closer to the people of Samar Island.

The new Assistance Center is part of the Ombudsman’s nationwide initiative to establish regional hubs that facilitate easier access to their services.

The new facility is designed to handle applications for Ombudsman clearances, the submission of Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN), and the receipt of complaints from the public.

Cong. Edwin Ongchuan expressed his gratitude for the center's establishment, highlighting its significance in fostering transparency and accountability within local government.

“We appreciate the Office of the Ombudsman for including Northern Samar in their plan to set up assistance centers across the country. This will make it much easier for our people to access important government services and report issues directly,” he said.

Officials emphasized that the center is a vital step toward strengthening good governance and empowering citizens.

With its, establishment, the facility can provide a convenient venue for residents to file complaints, secure government clearance documents, and seek guidance on anti-corruption initiatives.

Meanwhile, by establishing this facility, the Ombudsman aims to foster greater public trust, encourage citizen participation, and ensure that government officials remain accountable to the people they serve.

With this development, residents of Northern Samar now have a more accessible point of contact for addressing grievances, verifying official conduct, and ensuring that their rights are protected.

The Ombudsman’s move to establish regional centers underscores its dedication to rooting out corruption and building a cleaner, more transparent government across the nation.
